Under 14 Div2 league - Match Report 12/06/08
Ballyheigue v Abbeydorney
Ballyheigue got off to a good start in this match with two
points from Philip Lucid, a goal from Noel Carroll and a point from
Mikey O'Connor before Abbeydorney got on the scoresheet. A fine goal
from their number 9 brought Abbeydorney to life and they scored
another goal and a point to take the lead without any reply from
Ballyheigue. It could have been a lot more except for some excellent
defending by Brendan Dunne at full back and some good saves by
Ciaran O'Halloran in goals. Paudi Carroll leveled it for Ballyheigue
with a fine point and added another for good measure before his
front line took over scoring four more goals before half time, two
from Michael Leane and one each from Philip Lucid and Noel Carroll.
With the score of 5.05 to 2.01 in favor of Ballyheigue at
the break it was going to be a difficult task for Abbeydorney to
fight their way back. An early goal by Noel Carroll for
Ballyheigue and a point from Michael Leane put paid to
Abbeydorneys hopes and though they did manage a goal and two points
in a brief revival, Ballyheigue replied with a point from Philip
Lucid and another goal from Michael Leane to leave the score at
Ballyheigue 7.07 Abbeydorney 3.03 at the final whistle.
Ballyheigue scorers: Michael Leane 3.01 Noel Carroll 3.00 Philip
Lucid 1.03 Paudi Carroll 0.02 Mikey O'Connor 0.01.

North
Kerry under 14 A Hurling Championship final
Ballyheigue 2 .9 Ballyduff
1. 7
Ballyheigue U14 hurlers defeated Ballyduff in the North Kerry A
Championship final at Ballyheigue on Sunday the 9th of
December. Ballyduff
played with the aid of a gale force wind in the first half and had
most of the play and were five points ahead entering the last five
minutes of the half. In
a rare break up the field, Ballyheigue’s corner forward Paudie
Carroll scored a very valuable goal to leave the half time score at
Ballyduff 0.05 to Ballyheigue 1.00. Great credit must go to the Ballyheigue backs for holding the
Ballyduff boys to just five points.
Ballyheigue got the second have off to a great start with a
wonderful Garry Galway goal. Further
points from Garry, Shane Dunne and Philip Lucid gave Ballyheigue a
commanding lead. In
fairness to Ballyduff they never gave up and they scored a goal and
two points very late in the game. This was a great performance by the
Ballyheigue boys. Great
credit is due to both teams for serving up a wholehearted and
sporting game under terrible weather conditions.
The Michael Hennessy Shield was presented to Cian O’Sullivan full
back and team captain by Joe Walsh Chairman of Coiste na nOg ( NKB).
The team and scorers were:Christopher O’Mahony Joe Lawlor Cian
