| Our founding member Diarmuid Kelleher has a wealth
of experience in tax planning and wealth management through both
his diversified work experience and education. He is a qualified
Tax Consultant, ACCA Accountant and has also worked as a Stockbroker
in both Ireland and the US. He worked for three years in the tax
department of McGuire Desmond Solicitors in Cork. McGuire Desmond
Solicitors were established in 2000 and since then have building
up a niche taxation practice in the Munster region. During his time
in the McGuire Desmond tax unit Diarmuid gained a wealth of experience
in all areas of tax including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Capital
Acquisitions Tax, VAT and Corporation Tax. He has provided tax planning
and advice services to individuals, partnerships and companies.
Diarmuid Kelleher has lectured extensively on tax matters. He
lectures on VAT for the Institute of Tax on its Professional Course.
He has also lectured on all tax matters for the accounting professional
bodies of the ACCA and the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of Ireland as well as the CPA. For the years 2005 to 2007 Diarmuid
provided consultancy services for the Institute of Tax in relation
to their commentary on the Finance Act.
Prior to joining McGuire Desmond Diarmuid trained as an ACCA
Accountant with Thomas Goodall and Son in Cork. During this period
he worked on audit assignments for companies of various sizes
as well as carrying out work for sole traders and partnerships.
In addition to the experience outlined above Diarmuid has a solid
background in the wealth management area. He worked with NCB Stockbrokers
in Dublin for two years. This experience in working with high
net worth individuals gave him a great insight into the value
of tax planning and the most efficient wealth management strategies.
Prior to this Diarmuid worked for six years with Charles Schwab
& Co in the US. Charles Schwab is the largest online stockbroker
in the US. During his time with the company Diarmuid qualified
and worked as a licenced stockbroker and trader.
