Kate Kearney's Cottage Took Centre Stage at “A Taste of Kerry” Fringe Event During Global Economic Summit 2025
In collaboration with Failte Ireland, Discover Kerry with Kerry County Council were delighted to host a fringe event “A Taste of Kerry,” as part of the Global Economic Summit 2025 (GES25) at the reknown Kate Kearney's Cottage nestled in the Gap of Dunloe outside Killarney on Tuesday, 27th May. This wonderful fringe event welcomed international delegates for an authentic taste of Kerry’s rich culture, creativity, and world-class local produce.
Speaking on the importance of the Global Economic Summit and the value of such fringe events, Niamh O’Sullivan, Director of Services, Kerry County Council, said:
"The Global Economic Summit offers a unique platform for international leaders and innovators to engage on critical global issues. Today’s event provided an opportunity for global businesses to experience true authentic Kerry culture. Such off-site events allows a fresh and welcoming space away from the main summit for delegates to network, build meaningful connections, and experience firsthand the rich culture and creativity that define Kerry. As a destination partner to the Global Economic Summit it has enabled Kerry County Council to highlight Kerry not only as a place of stunning natural beauty but also as a vibrant centre for business, culture, and community."
One of the highlights of the afternoon was hearing from Ballyheigue native and internationally renowned fashion designer, Don O’Neill, who spoke about how Kerry’s stunning landscapes inspired his journey from a small Kerry village to the top fashion runways in Paris and New York. His stories on creativity and innovation really captured the spirit of Kerry and the importance of place.
The event was a true celebration of Kerry, with local artisan food and drink on offer, alongside lively traditional Irish music and dance, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere for delegates to enjoy and connect.
