Kingdom of Kerry Greenway – Listowel to Limerick

Listowel is where stories begin and everyone has a story to share. As one of the largest towns in the North Kerry region, this welcoming place has many friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs. You’ll find lots to explore and enjoy in Listowel. 

Kerry Writers Museum
Immerse yourself in the magic of words in the Kerry Writers Museum, all told by the Seanachaí – the bearer of Irish folklore. In this interactive exhibition, you can go on a journey deep into the landscape, history and folklore that fired the genius of Kerry’s writers. Discover ancient landscapes, medieval knights, the horror of famine and tales of mutiny. Younger visitors can follow Púca the Hare, who loves showing visitors around the Museum and helping them discover the stories inside.

St John’s Theatre & Arts Centre & Arts Centre
Located in a converted 19th Century Gothic Church, St John’s Theatre & Arts Centre & Arts Centre, you can enjoy music theatre, film, literature and visual art in this unique building in the centre of Listowel’s Georgian Square.

Lartigue Monorail 
Located in Listowel, County Kerry, the Lartigue Monorail offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to experience a unique form of rail travel. During the journey you will experience the unique features of the monorail, including its ingenious switching system. While there, visit the Lartigue Museum to watch film of the original Lartigue and see models, displays and memorabilia of the Lartigue and main-line railways.

Listowel Castle
Standing at almost 15.3 metres, Listowel Castle overlooks the River Feale. With half the original building still in place, it is one of Kerry’s best examples of Anglo-Norman architecture. An external staircase allows visitors to enjoy the views from the upper levels of the Castle. Access is by guided tour.
