AI is being talked about everywhere at the moment, but for many businesses it still feels a step removed from day to day work. Something to look at later rather than something to act on now.
That is the gap the RDI Hub in Killorglin is working to close.
Through its AI Navigator programme, the team is working directly with businesses across Kerry to identify where AI can support day to day operations, helping teams work more efficiently and make better use of their time.
The programme is already supporting companies across a range of sectors including hospitality, manufacturing, construction and professional services, with a focus on what works in each individual business.
A straightforward place to start
For businesses looking to get an initial understanding, the monthly Gen AI Masterclasses offer a simple way in.
These sessions run online on the last Tuesday of each month and are designed to give a clear overview of how AI is being used in a business context. They include practical examples, live demonstrations and input from experienced speakers.
They are open to the wider team and can be attended as often as needed, making them a useful starting point without requiring a major time commitment.
Taking it a step further
For businesses that want to look more closely at how AI could apply to their own operations, there is also the option of a one to one AI strategy session.
These are 60 minute virtual sessions focused on the individual business, with the aim of identifying relevant use cases and outlining a clear starting point.
The sessions are practical in nature and centred on existing processes rather than broad theory.
Learning by doing
Alongside these supports, the RDI Hub is running a one day training course focused on Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.
This course is aimed at non technical users and focuses on the tools many businesses already use, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. The session looks at how Copilot can assist with routine tasks and support day to day productivity.
It is delivered online in a small group setting, with time for questions and practical examples throughout. No previous experience with AI is required.
With support from Enterprise Ireland, the cost is reduced to €100 per participant, with the balance covered through eligible company supports.
Upcoming dates include:
Thursday April 30
Wednesday May 27
Wednesday June 24
A real opportunity for local businesses
AI is already being used in many workplaces, often in small ways that add up over time.
For businesses across Kerry, these supports offer a chance to explore where it fits, understand what is relevant, and take a considered first step.
