There are some stories in Kerry that continue to be shared long after the moment itself. One of these is the Dingle Sturgeon Story of 1966, which now forms the basis of the theatre production Catch of the Day.
Set in a Dingle pub, the show follows tourists who become part of a retelling of the story by locals. At the centre is the account of a fisherman arriving into Dingle Bay in 1966 with a very unusual catch — a sturgeon.
Blending live music, comedy, and theatre, Catch of the Day is built from testimonies of people who remember the story, bringing a well-known piece of Dingle folklore to the stage.

Following a sell-out run at the Soho Theatre in London, along with UK and Irish tours, Catch of the Day now transfers to New York this summer.
The production will run at 59E59 Theaters from 10th–28th June 2026 at 19:15 nightly.
Created by Red Fox Theatre and directed by Megan Jenkins, the production brings the Dingle Sturgeon Story to an international audience through live music, comedy, and theatre.
