Celebrating Kerry's Success at the 2024 Tidy Towns Awards
A huge congratulations to all the towns and villages across County Kerry who excelled at the 2024 Tidy Towns Awards! This year, our county has once again shown the power of community spirit and dedication, with fantastic results in the national competition.
Tralee Tidy Towns made a remarkable leap, increasing their score from 347 to 383 points in just two years—an impressive achievement that earned them their 12th Gold Medal. Tralee also came second in the Large Urban Centre category, just behind Ballincollig Tidy Towns, the overall winners. What a fantastic milestone for Tralee, showcasing the town’s commitment to sustainability, beauty, and community pride.
Killarney also shone brightly, earning another Gold Medal with an impressive score of 384 points, securing the Kerry County Award. This marks another strong performance from Killarney Tidy Towns, despite fierce competition, and a testament to the town’s outstanding efforts in preserving its natural environment and enhancing its charm.
Kenmare deserves a special mention for its remarkable achievement as the Second Best Small Town in Ireland, securing its 24th Gold Medal. Kenmare’s continued success is a reflection of the town's dedication to beautification, sustainability, and community spirit—an inspiring example of what can be achieved with hard work and pride in one’s surroundings.
Listowel was also a standout, gaining its 16th Gold Medal and improving by 11 marks over last year’s results. This continued success reflects the hard work and commitment of the Listowel Tidy Towns group in maintaining the town’s beauty year after year.
Of course, these achievements wouldn’t be possible without the tireless work of the volunteers and steering groups in each Tidy Town and Community Development Group across Kerry. The efforts of these local heroes, supported by generous sponsorship and community partnerships, are the backbone of the success we’re celebrating this week.
This recognition at the 2024 Tidy Towns Awards is a testament to the broad reach of community involvement, and we are incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication that goes into making Kerry such a beautiful place to live, work, and visit. Well done to all involved!
