Highlighting Women’s Voices for International Women’s Day 2025


Kerry is a place of beauty, history, and a welcoming spirit. But what truly makes the Kingdom special is its diverse and vibrant community. As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, we shine a light on the inspiring women who have shared their stories through Radio Kerry’s Many Voices, One Kingdom series, supported by Coimisiún na Meán. This collection of powerful, one-minute stories gives a platform to individuals from all walks of life, sharing the voices of women in Kerry or those who have come to call Kerry home.

 

Celebrating Women’s Stories in Kerry

From embracing cultural identity to finding unexpected passions in a new home, the women featured in this series embody the spirit of inclusivity and strength. Their voices reflect the universal themes of belonging, empowerment, and breaking barriers.

  • Jane Beatrice from Nigeria – Jane shares how she has come to appreciate the sacredness of an O’Neill football in Kerry. Her story isn’t just about sport—it’s about community, tradition, and bridging cultural divides.

  • Tania Lawlor from France – Moving to Kerry led Tania to an unexpected role as a rowing coach with Tralee Rowing Club. Her story is one of serendipity and highlights how inclusivity allows people to thrive in new and unexpected ways.

  • Yuliia from Ukraine – Yuliia’s voice brings a powerful perspective on resilience and adaptation, sharing her journey of building a life in Kerry after leaving her home country.

  • Anna from Ballybunion – Anna’s story showcases the strength of local women in Kerry, contributing to the community and shaping a more inclusive society.

  • Siobhan, the Gay Dentist – Siobhan’s story reflects on gender, identity, and acceptance, highlighting how inclusivity is essential in every profession and community.

Each voice note, lasting just a minute, brings a personal story that is about more than just the speaker—it’s a reflection of how we all play a part in creating a truly inclusive community. From overcoming obstacles related to gender, culture, or identity, to finding a sense of belonging in a new place, these stories inspire us all to take action toward a more inclusive and equal society.

Broadcaster Niamh Daly, the creative force behind the Many Voices, One Kingdom series, was shortlisted for the Best Community-Based Media Literacy Initiative Award. Her commitment to amplifying diverse voices and fostering social inclusion through media is a testament to the power of storytelling.
