Irish Government Trade Mission

Earlier this month, during an Irish Government trade mission to East Coast US, Kerry-based digital health company Salaso, along with their US partner Northwell Health announced a new multi-year contract for myHealthyBody.

This announcement coincideed with Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland’s joint Trade and Investment Mission to New York and Boston. Led by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke, the trade mission aimed at boosting trade relationships and promote Irish companies in the US.

Salaso's myHealthyBody, an innovative solution for employee health and well-being, is delivering significant well-being benefits to Northwell Health's 87,000 employees and financial value to their benefits fund. It helps to promote self-management, self-care on the importance of injury prevention and well-being among employees.

Salaso has collaborated with Northwell Health, the largest health system in New York State since 2019 to develop a new solution called myHealthyBody that addresses the needs of employers to reduce employees’ musculoskeletal injuries (back, neck, knee, shoulder pain etc.), especially large employers in industries with high musculoskeletal injury risks such as healthcare, construction, haulage.

myHealthyBody helps prevent and alleviate musculoskeletal injuries by providing employees with self-care guidance, education and physical therapy exercises. It combines digital triage with on-demand self-care advice and customised exercise programs for injury prevention and self-management. Additionally, it offers fast-track referrals to appropriate care settings when necessary.

Enhanced Musculoskeletal Health and Wellness of Northwell Employees

Earlier this year, Salaso launched additional features for myHealthyBody, providing a more user-friendly and personalised experience. The enhanced capabilities include the ability to sync data from wearable devices, allowing users to connect to employee wellness programs through smartwatches or other wearable sensors, resulting in more precise tracking of progress and measurement of outcomes.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Northwell Health,” said Aoife Ní Mhuirí, CEO and founder of Salaso. “Our collaboration has already showcased the transformative potential of digital health solutions like myHealthyBody in addressing musculoskeletal issues and promoting overall wellness of employees. We are eager to drive further positive change together.”

The solution is accessible on demand from any device, including PCs and mobile phones, offering a seamless user experience for digital triage and personalised care.

myHealthyBody has already demonstrated its effectiveness with Northwell Health’s employees by helping to prevent injuries, accelerate recovery, and enable employees to get back to work quicker, delivering a positive cost-benefit analysis.

This agreement means Salaso will continue to deliver innovative, clinically validated and highly engaging health and well-being initiatives through the myHeathyBody platform to support Northwell Health’s 87,000 employees.

Significant Cost Savings for Employers

“We recently commissioned an independent actuarial study of the benefits of myHealthyBody and found it reduced MSK (musculoskeletal) claims costs for our employer benefits fund by up to 25%. Our partnership with Salaso presents an exceptional solution for the employee experience,” stated Gregg Nevola, VP/Head of Benefits at Northwell Health.
