BLASTA BOOKS #14: TANGO is Facundo and Pamela’s love letter to Argentina’s cuisine. Founders of Tango Street Food in Killarney, their new publication showcases Argentine cuisine, and its European influences, and how at a deeper level these dishes are a testament to the power of food to transcend borders, connect people and create community.
From the hand-crimped empanadas to the iconic asado that unite people in joyous celebration, TANGO is a fresh new way of bringing Argentine food culture to everyone’s table. Whether you are an Argentinian native or are trying these flavours for the first time, each recipe captures the essence of the Argentine home.
As the saying goes, it's available in all good bookshops from 9th May 2025.

FROM SOUTH AMERICA TO KERRY
Facundo’s passion for food began as a child watching his Spanish-Italian family cook Sunday meals. Inspired by his uncle’s founding of a pizza chain in Buenos Aires, Facundo entered the culinary world, taking part in diverse gastronomic projects in Spain. Pamela, whose hospitality experience began in her parents’ businesses, fell in love with the Irish family culture while working in the travel industry. Inspired by its resemblance to Patagonia, they decided upon relocating to Co. Kerry
Having moved and settled here in 2028, Facundo and Pamela found a warmth, community and sense of belonging. Despite wholeheartedly embracing their surroundings, Facundo and Pamela still longed for the flavours of their homeland, for the tastes and aromas that bring back childhood memories and the sense of comfort found when eating with friends and family.
And so Tango Street Food was formed - from starting a food truck during the pandemic, this dynamic duo then opened Tango Street Food on Muckross Road in Killarney, the first Argentine restaurant in Munster and the only parrilla (open-fire grill) in Ireland.
RECIPES & CELEBRATIONS
As Facundo and Pamela publish their first book, TANGO, here at Discover Kerry we celebrate the food and traditions that define who Facundo and Pamela are. Like the tango – a dance that weaves emotion, history and passion into every step – these recipes tell a story of love, tradition and unity.
Try iconic dishes such as Fugazzeta (stuffed pizza) and family favourites such as Pastel de Papa (Argentine shepherd’s pie); snack on the addictive Berenjenas al escabeche (pickled aubergines) or savour the sweetness of Pasta frola (quince pie); and learn the real meaning of sobremesa on a Sunday, the time spent together at the table after a meal.
At Tango we serve authentic, nutritious and tasty gourmet food that will transport you to Buenos Aires without a 14 hours flight! We live fast paced lives and quick shouldn't mean compromising on high quality ingredients, flavour or healthy choices. Everything is made from scratch…
Blasta Books

Blasta Books really are little books with big voices. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2021, Publisher Kristin Jensen created Blasta Books to connect people through food and stories and prioritise new, unpublished voices in Ireland.
TANGO is no. 14 in this exquisite series of hardcover, 72-page, A5 cookbooks which include 30 recipes, and are illustrated by Irish artists. As well as standalone books, they are published as a quarterly series to provide a more inclusive snapshot of Ireland’s modern and diverse food culture, enabling more voices to be heard and more niches, topics and cuisines to be explored.
