DIBEST Programme

Welcome to Killarney

As the DIBEST partners and micro-enterprises arrive to Kerry for their events and tours around Kerry this April, please browse over this guide to Killarney as you base yourself here on Monday 20th and Wednesday 22nd April.

Attractions

From Killarney town centre you can easily explore Killarney House & Gardens and the Killarney National Park from Kenmare Place just opposite the Plaza Hotel, and there are other entry points from Mission Road and opposite St. Mary's Cathedral, giving you many opportunities to walk casually around the town centre and over to the National Park.

Ross Castle and Muckross House & Gardens as well as Torc Waterfall can be reached by public transport, on foot and by bicycle. The Killarney Hop on Hop off bus departs from the rear of the Plaza Hotel regularly, and there are also jaunting carts (horse and carts) and taxi options from the town centre, with Bicycle rental near to the centre also. See our map below with attractions and activities listed for you to explore.

Music, Food & Craic

You'll find many cozy corners around Killarney town and a highlight is the Deenagh Lodge cafe opposite Killarney's magnificent Cathedral on Port Road / New Street, which you will find if you walk west through the Cherry Tree Walk from Killarney House and Gardens.

Walk around Killarney in the evening - there will be music in many of the pubs including The Grand / Sheehan's Bar and J.M. Reidy's on Main Street; The Laurels on the Market Cross as well as the Danny Mann on New Street. Wander along High Street for gorgeous pubs such as Teddy O'Connors or J.C. O'Sheas.
