BBC One’s landmark nature series Wild Isles has featured an epic battle of stags during the Autumn rutting season within Kerry's Killarney National Park, part of the Kerry UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Legendary broadcaster Sir David Attenborough began the series with an episode aptly titled ‘Our Precious Isles’, explaining why our small and uniquely positioned set of isles (Britain and Ireland) are so critical for the survival of species from right across the globe.
Co-produced by The Open University, it premiered on BBC One in 2023. Visit the Open University Wild Isles online resource for a free digital download and an interactive version of the map above featuring the 'Wild Isles' of Britain and Ireland.
