The beauty of Killarney belongs to everyone and exploring the stunning Lakes of Killarney has become even more accessible thanks to a new initiative from Ross Castle Boat Tours. A specially installed wheelchair-accessible hoist now allows more people to experience one of Kerry's most iconic attractions from the water.

Designed to provide a safe, comfortable and dignified boarding experience, the new hoist enables wheelchair users to transfer directly onto a purpose-built boat, opening up unforgettable journeys through the heart of Killarney National Park.

Creating Adventures for Everyone

A specially installed accessible hoist allows wheelchair users to transfer safely and comfortably onto a purpose-designed boat, creating opportunities for visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy one of Ireland's most iconic landscapes.

Since its introduction, demand for the service has exceeded expectations, with visitors travelling from across Ireland to experience the tour.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive.Guests ranging from just five years old to seventy-two years of age have already enjoyed time on the water, with enquiries continuing to arrive from across the country. One recent group travelled from Dublin specifically to experience the accessible boat tour and described the experience as unforgettable.Perhaps most importantly, every service user has reported feeling safe and secure throughout the boarding process. Creating a comfortable, dignified experience was the primary goal of the new hoist, and the feedback confirms that it is delivering exactly that.
