Gaeltacht Areas
Kerry has two Gaeltacht areas, or Gaeltachtaí: the Gaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh or Iveragh Gaeltacht to the west of the Ring of Kerry / Mór Chuairde, and the Gaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne or West Kerry Gaeltacht, situated on the Dingle Peninsula. The Irish language, customs, festivals and way of life are not only celebrated in these areas, but carefully protected and cultivated so that the gaelic heritage and language can continue to live and flourish.
The Wild Atlantic Way makes its path through these vibrant cultural regions, and visitors experience remote beaches, dramatic cliff faces and warm communities who share gaelic folklore, music and dance through their many festivals deeply rooted in pagan and Celtic traditions.
